Election Called

So the date for the election has now been set. 6th May 201o. It's about time and this is going to be one of the most important elections for generations.

We need to make sure that people are engaged in the process and get them involved. It's the people that run the state not the state that runs the people!!!!

We need to get back to sensible politics and ensure that it works for the people.

Added Skysa Bar

Today decided to add the Skysa bar to the site (www.skysa.com). Works really well and over the next few weeks I will start adding additional features to it.

Along with that I noticed from the Google Analytics I have been following that a lot of the traffic to the site is coming from stumbleupon.com. As a result I have added a site review to my account and will see if any traffic is directed as a result.

Well that's it for now so on with marketing of the site.

First of 2010

Well its been a long time since I updated the blog and a lot has happened since then.

The biggest news is that we launched the beta site in late November. Since then traffic has grown slowly but it is getting there. We also started marketing the site and submitted it to several of the well know launchpads including:
After only a couple of days of being out there we got picked up by www.killerstartups.com who gave us a great review - you can see this here.

Current activity is to build more traffic to the site and make sure more people come and use the site. With that in mind we are getting a Press Release developed and have several bids on our elance account to look at and decide.

We want to get the site out into the public domain particularly with the up and coming general election in the UK. People need to have somewhere to get things off their mind and hope that they will start to use www.vocifer8.com for this - that after all is why we developed the site.

The Beta version is on its way

Again it's been a long time since the last blog so I thought it was about time that I got back and updated the status with www.vocifer8.com is.

The development team (www.sprintart.com) have been busy developing the latest modifications to the site. These are now ready for testing and I plan to get this underway at the weekend. There are some major changes and one of the biggest is the ability to upload media to your shouts. This should make the site less textual and provide more interesting content.

There will even be an opportunity to suggest a shout for those that want to shout but can't think of the subject!

There are other developments underway but I want to keep the lid on them for now as they are going to give great functionality to the site.

Its been pleasing to see a steady increase in people joining the site and I hope this continues as the the site becomes more popular. Whats been the most amazing thing is to look at the demographic who are joining the site. Mainly over 40 and female!! That's the demographic that we want to attract.

On a different item after the summer that saw us going to see Take That and Oasis we are off to Cardiff in a weeks time to see U2 in Cardiff - What a life!!

Well its been a while since posting but then we have not be doing nothing. We have, over the last few weeks, engaged with our developers on the modifications we had planned to take the site to beta.

These are now available for testing and the testing will be undertaken over the next week or so. We are planning a newsletter to go out and let everyone who has subscribed to the site of the changes we will be implementing. The goal is to get these out as soon as possible and these will make the site much more usable and provide additional facilities.

The traffic growth is getting there and more people are looking at the site. We do need to convert these to users of the site as the more people that post on the site the more compelling the experience becomes.

Well back to it. More updates to follow over the next week or so.

Have great evening.

Changes to the Site.

Well back in London again this weekend to see Oasis at Wembley, really looking forward to it.

In the week I looked at the site and realised there is too much text on the index page if you landed at the site. It is proving very difficult to get the message of what Vocifer8.com is about so I need to rethink the situation.

Since launching the site it has had nearly 100 unique visitors but none of them have then joined and posted anything. Obviously they as nothing that made them want to join. As a result I decided to make a quick graphic that would make it simple.

I decided that a graphic instead of text would be a much better way of getting people into the site. I will be monitoring this over the next few weeks to see what happens. If anyone reading this can come up with better ideas please comments and let me know.

Over the next week or so I will be pressing the developers to get the new functions developed as these will make a big difference to the site.

I will blog again as we progress.

This Weekend

Off topic with this entry but we the team behind Vocifer8.com are in London this weekend to see Take That at Wembley stadium. We cam up yesterday and spent the night in the West End opposite the Holland Park Hilton.

Arrived late due to the traffic on the M25 but that's always the case. When we did arrive the flat we have rented for a couple of nights is super. We had a late dinner and then bed.

One thing though is I had forgotten how noisy it can be in the City!!! Still it's exciting and the youngest loves been here.

Had a quick look at the analytical's on the site this morning and it seems that the changes I made to the keywords for the site are working. Whilst the traffic is still very low it is proving that tuning and refining the words ans phrases used does work. I will continue to monitor it every couple of days and also think of other ways to get the traffic flowing.

Will also follow up with the developers this weekend to see if they are progressing with the phase 2 development. There are some really nice features comming up including uploading media and also starting monements - more on this as we move into testing and launch of the beta.

Well that is for now - off shopping this morning and then to Wembley!!!
